My husband and I went to Hocking Hills and stayed in a cabin. It was a beautiful and peaceful area. There was plenty to do. We went into the hills and even above them. The view was breathtaking. This is a vacation that would be for the whole family or just if you want some "alone" time.
I moved to Southeast, Ohio from Findlay recently. I discovered a whole new world down here. I am the mother of 3 children who were born in the city. My kids have become adapted to this part of Ohio and they love it. I wanted to move back home to be closer to my mom but my kids refuse it. We go to the caves quite often, we go to the nearby beaches... it is beautiful.
I was not aware of how much of an impact that the country can have on you. I go to my front porch in the morning and drink my coffee and I listen to nature. It is so peaceful. The people that live down here are so nice and down to earth. Everywhere you go someone is saying hello or just waving to be nice.
Thank you Ohio for giving us city girls a whole new world to discover. I talk to my mom and she says that I sound country. Well maybe I am, and who knows, she could be to. I think we all have a little bit of country in us. Once we see the trees in the fall and spring it changes us.
I am orignally from East Liverpool, Ohio. I find that Columbiana County, Ohio is a true gem. The beauty of the Ohio River Valley, and the rolling countryside are worthy of any tourist views. I consider my home county to be rural splendor among the large metropolitan areas of Pittsburgh, PA; Youngstown/Warren, OH; Akron/Canton, OH; and Greater Cleveland, OH. The old guard industries may not be there as they once were; however the natural beauty can never leave. Ohio is a great place to wander for any tourist. From the Ohio River, to Lake Erie there is something for everyones interest. If you get the chance visit East Liverpool for the Lou Holtz Hall of Fame, Museum of Ceramics, its vintage antique stores among buildings just as old, and stroll the Broadway Wharf. Nearby are two marvelous state parks, Beaver Creek, and Guilford Lake. I am proud to be from, and recommend anyone visit Columbiana County, Ohio!

A new family tradition for us is to round up the family and head to Kirkersville, Ohio to visit the Pigeon Roost Farm in late fall. Our oldest son, Kean, fills the day running through the corn maze, picking out his favorite pumpkin or squash and tending to the fields with his cousin, Grayton.
Another tradition we started with Kean and will be sure to continue with our youngest son, Nikolas, is taking a picture of him next to the "How Tall this Fall" measuring stick painted on the barn. We just started this trip in 2005, but we hope to continue on for several years to come.
