Flint Ridge State Memorial Park - "Opening Day"
Flint Ridge State Memorial Park is an Ohio Historical Society Site. Preserving the heritage of many Flint Quarries left by early Native American Indians. Flint Ridge Park offers Many hiking trails, Shelter House, Restrooms, Picnic Area and a Museum, surrounded by beautiful nature and wildlife. Museum offers educational displays in the History, Geology and importance of Ohio's Flint. In addition, many Hands on Items allow children to experience early culture. Often there are Native American Craftsman on site teaching various early skills (Knapping, Fire Starting, Survival, Music). Open Saturdays 9 - 5, Sundays 10 - 5, May - October. AAA Discount is also offered.
Flint Ridge also hosts Annual Knap-Ins (The art of making arrowheads) on Memorial Day and Labor Day Weekends (Friday - Sunday). Many volunteers share their Native American talents. There are also vendors and food on location. These events, admission is $5 per vehicle.
