Adult Art Sampler, with Shannon Casey at PAA

Have you always wanted to try drawing, painting or working from the figure but need a few basics (and encouragement) to get started? This may be the class for you! This beginning series for adults is geared to those who want to try their hand at making art ... or try a different art medium on for size. Students will work primarily from life to hone their observational skills. Relaxed sessions offer plenty of one-on-one instruction. All materials are provided. Choose one session or all four. Classes meet on Wednesday evenings, Nov. 7, 14, 28 and Dec. 5, 2012 from 6:00 - 9pm. Cost: $30 a session, $25 for PAA members. Pre-registration is required. Contact the instructor at caseystudio@aol.com for specific questions. Week One: Exploring the basics: shapes, value, proportion and composition with pencil and charcoal. Week Two: Figure studies with a (clothed) model with emphasis on capturing gesture, understanding proportion and basic info about portraits. Week Three: Use oil paints to work on a still life. (Remember, I provide all the materials you'll need for all sessions, including a canvas.) Week Four: Art potpourri! Experiment with a broad sampling of materials - watercolors, oils, pastels, India ink, collage and more. You can also continue the painting you started in week three.
