Ohio & Erie Canalway National Heritage Area

The Ohio & Erie Canalway is a National Heritage Area – designated by Congress – to help preserve and celebrate the rails, trails, landscapes, towns and sites that grew up along the first 110 miles of the canal that helped Ohio and our nation grow.

Whether you like to hike, bike, run, ride - or simply enjoy our region's canal-era history - find it all in the Ohio & Erie Canalway. Follow the Towpath Trail, ride the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, or take a discovery drive along our nationally designated America's Byway.

You'll wind your way from Cleveland and Lake Erie's shores in the north through Dover and New Philadelphia in the South. Along the way, ramble through the county park districts of Cuyahoga, Summit, Stark and Tuscarawas Counties, including the National Park. Come explore our National Heritage Area - 110 Miles. Endless Possibilities. - just waiting for you.
