Pancake Town USA
Pancake Town USA is Burton Village's celebration of its maple heritage. It all began in 1951, and continues today when 20,000 hungry, cabin fever guests come to town to have a "maple experience." Visitors can watch pure maple syrup being made in the Burton Chamber Of Commerce Log Cabin in the Park. Then, they can enjoy a fresh pancake breakfast. Pancake Town USA is a unique experience that attracts crowds looking to cure Cabin Fever each spring.
Since 1951, over 1.5 million pancakes have been served by the Burton Fire Department, Burton-Middlefield Rotary and other groups in Burton Village to almost half a million people. More than 23,500 gallons of locally produced maple syrup has been poured over those pancakes and more than 125,000 pounds of sausage has been enjoyed.
This annual tradition takes place each Sunday in March, from 9 to 2, (March 6, 13, 20, 2016. NOT MARCH 27 Easter Sunday) Individuals and families travel from across northeast Ohio and beyond for a mountain of fresh pancakes with pure Geauga County maple syrup. Prices vary by location with adult and youth prices. What a cure for cabin fever!
After a hearty breakfast, walk around town and visit the Book Cellar at the Burton Public Library, Craft Show at Berkshire High School or explore the many locally owned quaint shops on Main Street. Be sure to read the historic markers around the Park and learn about the rich history of Burton Village.
