Undie Cover: Vintage Ladies' Undergarments Exhibit
Ladies' undergarments, which can be a delicate matter, are the focus of an educational and entertaining journey through the Center's collection. Vintage ladies' undergarments are spotlighted, spanning a 70-year time frame. In the 1800s, there were two types of women's undergarments: under-linens such as the chemise, drawers, petticoats and corset covers that protected the outer clothing from the not-so-clean body, and structural pieces or props, such as corsets, bustles, crinoline and bust improvers. These structural pieces created the fashionable silhouette of the times which was often unlike that of the actual human body. Visit the display and go "Undie Cover."
