March 2014 - Maple Madness (R) Driving Tour
Maple syrup is Ohio's first harvest of the year and the sweetest. Two weekends in March, 9 & 10, 16 & 17, 2013, sugarhouses across Ohio open their doors and invite visitors to see first hand how pure maple syrup is made.
The March 2013 - Maple Madness (TM) Driving Tour is a statewide event sponsored by the Ohio Maple Producers Association with the support of Ohio syrup makers. It has stops in 16 counties across Ohio.
Experienced maple syrup makers will be on hand to answer questions during the free, drive-it-yourself tour across Ohio. Some stops are small, backyard ventures, while others are large, commercial operations.
SATURDAY ONLY - A few select Amish sugar houses are welcoming guests. Saturday March 17 only have a pancake breakfast at the Miller Family Pancake Breakfast in Burton Township. Then take home a dozen of their delicious doughnuts. Please refrain from taking pictures at Amish stops.
Maple syrup is made in only a very small part of the entire world and Ohio sits in the heart of that area. Bring the entire family, spend a day in Ohio's beautiful countryside and see how clear, sweet sap from the maple tree becomes golden, delicious maple syrup.
