First Responders Park
Nestled beside Westerville Fire Station 111, you’ll find an inspirational setting in which to celebrate the achievements and contemplate the losses experienced by fire and police personnel and emergency dispatchers. The centerpiece of the park is a piece of World Trade Center Steel, known as C-40, measuring 18 feet long, 8 feet wide and weighing 2 tons. This piece was part of the Federal investigation into the collapse of the towers. It once spanned the 98th-101st floors on the north face of WTC 1, which was struck by a 767 aircraft at 8:46am on September 11, 2001. The newest addition to the park is a sculpture of a firefighter called "The Crossing", designed by by Steve Geddes & Bob Moore, honoring the memory of fallen firefighter Dave Theisen.
