Ohio Smoked Meat & BBQ Festival
The “Ohio Smoked Meat and Barbeque Festival” originated in 1996 as the first official state of Ohio championship for smoked meat and BBQ, proclaimed by the governor of Ohio. The competition is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society.
The competition will be held on the streets and historic Public Square of downtown Nelsonville. Total prize money for the event will be $10,000.00 with categories in chicken, pork ribs, pork, and beef brisket.
The Nelsonville contest will again be part of the “Ohio Triple Crown Series” this year. The Ohio BBQ Triple Crown Series consists of the KCBS Sanctioned Contests in Ohio. These contests are considered to be Qualifiers and the top accumulated points won at 3 of these contests will be used to select the Ohio BBQ Triple Crown Series Champion.
