Hale Farm & Village
At Hale Farm & Village you will see Wheatfield Village, a small Ohio town struggling with the impact of the War Between the States. Learn about the issues and events that have divided a nation. Talk to a mother whose son is about to enlist. Write a letter to a soldier on the front, and learn how national events affect the everyday life of those at home.
Period crafts are made on the premises, with skilled artisans demonstrating blacksmithing, glassblowing, spinning, weaving, candlemaking and basketmaking. Farm animals are in residence as well, with a “stable” of horses, pigs, cows and sheep. A new team of oxen just joined the farm in March 2012.
