Glendower Historic House
Glendower historic house is a circa 1845 northern antebellum mansion located on five acres of sweeping lawn in Lebanon, Ohio. Glendower was the first dwelling built in an early subdivision known as Floraville. It is noted for its Greek revival architecture and is said to be the finest example of residential Greek revival in the midwest. Five more historic houses, all privately owned, make up the neighborhood today. Together they provide a comprehensive survey of fine architecture in the years before the Civil War. Glendower is furnished to the period 1845 to 1865 with antique furniture and decorative arts collected over 65 years from Ohio's pioneer families. The Glendower Historic Characters serve as tour guides while portraying former owners and other persons of historic interest from the neighborhood. They are authentically costumed and welcome conversation about life in Ohio during the years leading up to the Civil War. Hours are noon to 4:00 pm. Open Memorial Day through Labor Day Wedneday through Sunday. Open Saturdays and Sundays until the end of the year. Closed January through March. Open April through Memorial Day on Saturday and Sunday only. Special hours for all December weekends are noon to 8:00 pm. Admission charged.
