Back Roads & Beaches Bike and Multi-Sport Route
You'll find miles of rolling, rural roads with beautiful scenery ranging from pastoral farmland and forest to the nautical flavor of the Lake Erie shoreline. The Back Roads and Beaches Route was formed to provide the most scenic and low traffic routes that lead riders through some of Ohio's best landscape. Not only does the route feature fabulous scenery, but it also highlights some of the area's most relevant history, culture and arts and cutting edge environmental initiatives. Of course, every touring cyclist always looks for great food. Although you'll find fast food along the route, the Back Roads and Beaches Tour highlights eateries that feature locally grown produce, organics, healthy choices and spectacular outdoor views.
The tour will take you through several small towns and cities in Lorain County. Hard core athletes can jump on the trail and complete a multi-sport adventure that combines cycling with mountain biking, swimming, kayaking, rollerblading or running through varied and scenic terrain. Cycling tourists can take a leisurely spin through the route while immersing themselves in culture, arts and history of Oberlin, the nautical charm and maritime history of Vermilion, or the beautiful beaches and lake views in Lorain.
