Built in 1833, this Civil War General's home is listed on the National Register and is recognized with an Ohio Historical Society Marker. Exhibited are period furnishings, portraits of the McPherson family, the Generals' battle sword, dressing gown and other personal affects. Civil War Era memorabilia and information honoring McPherson are also displayed.James Birdseye McPherson was the Chief Engineer at Alcatraz Island and commanded the Army of Tennessee under General William T. Sherman during the Civil War. He was the highest ranking union officer killed.
