Stratford Ecological Center & State Nature Preserve
Stratford Ecological Center is a 236 acre organic farm consisting of fields, forest, swamps, pond, creek, education center, sugar shack, gardens, greenhouses and farm animals. 95 acres is dedicated as a State Nature Preserve. Stratford is one of the largest green spaces left in southern Delaware County.
Stratford is a privately owned non-profit organization dedicated to educating children and adults toward understanding the relationships between living things and their environment. Stratford hosts two annual events: Maple Sugar Festival, Saturday, March 13, 2010 and Harvest Festival, Saturday, September 25th. Please call for more details.
Other programs include Wildflower Walks, Family Farm Chores, Vernal Pool Study, Canning Classes, Cheesemaking, Raising Chickens, Gourd Workshop, Non-Toxic Cleaners, Organic Gardening, Container and Urban Gardening, Soapmaking, Homeschool Programs-Beekeeping and Sheep To Sweater, Summer Farm Camps. Monthly groups include: Herbal Study. Storytime on the Farm, Kid's Nature Club. Honey, meat, eggs, and pick your own produce are available on site. Guided tours by reservation for groups of 10+, at $2.50/person/hour.
