Christmas in the Village - Smithville, Ohio
Visit our Pioneer Village decorated for the holidays. Roast marshmallows in the fireplace, sing carols around the Schantz pump organ, and visit with Santa. All Pioneer Village Buildings will be open: The Pioneer Log Cabin, Sheller Log House, Carriage Barn with the Village Pottery, the Tin Shop, Village Blacksmith Shop, and the LyDo Barn Exhibit. These buildings are on Eberly Drive, back of the Smithville Post Office. Pottery items can be purchased at the Village Pottery. The Historic Church of God, the Depot, and Caboose are on North Milton Street. Monetary donations are appreciated.
The Mishler Weaving Mill and Gift Shop, at 381 East Main Street, will be open and decorated for the holidays. Watch the Mill's mechanical weaving looms, the oldest of which dates from 1895, weave dish cloths, table runners, and placemats. See rag rugs and dish towels being woven using hand looms. One of our rug looms is an 1860 rocker beater barn beam loom. Visit with our member-volunteers. The Gift Shop has items for sale that were made in the Mishler Weaving Mill, the Tin Shop, and the Village Pottery.
Buildings that are handicapped accessible include: the Mishler Weaving Mill, the Tin Shop, Village Blacksmith Shop, the first floor of the LyDo Barn Exhibit, The Historic Church of God, and the Depot.
