Great Western School

This little red schoolhouse was constructed in 1870 with bricks made of clay from the banks of a nearby pond. The school was used continuously until 1952. It takes you back in time with  old-fashioned desks/built-in ink wells, McGuffey Readers, even a potbelly stove.  School students are welcomed to spend a day of class now in the old schoolhouse.

Located on Ohio University Eastern Campus off US Rt. 40 west of St. Clairsville.

OPEN BY APPOINTMENT ONLY or when the flag is flying.
