Tar Hollow State Park

Tar Hollow State Park is located in Ross & Hocking counties, an hour drive south of Columbus. Tar Hollow State Park & State Forest, along with Ross Lake Wildlife Area, form a continuous patchwork of forest, meadow and lakeshore that together offer 18,000 acres of some of the most rugged land in Ohio.

Hike 24 miles of scenic hiking trails, or take a backpacking adventure on the 21-mile backpack trail through the park & state forest. Primitive back-country camping is permitted in designated areas. The park offers a challenging 2.5 mile mountain bike trail. Horseback riding is offered on 25 miles of bridle trails in the state forest (bring your own horse) along with a primitive horse camp.
15-acre Pine Lake offers a small sand swimming beach. Enjoy boating limited to non-motorized or motorized boats with a 4 horsepower limit. Boat rental available. Fishing is enjoyed from shore or lake. Hunting is permitted in the state forest adjacent to the park. A valid Ohio fishing &/or hunting license is required.

The family campground is ideal for kids.  The campground offers 71 campsites with electric hookups and 23 non-electric sites. There are also 12 walk-in sites in the family campground. Amenities include showers, laundry facilities, a quaint general store, bike rentals, volleyball & basketball courts, and a mini golf course. Pets allowed on designated sites.

Camping fees (weekends) range from $22/night to $25/night for non-electric/electric sites. Call 1-866-644-6727 for reservations.
