Hoover Historical Center
"Preserving the Hoover Legacy" -- View Victorian elegance in decor, family furnishings, vintage ladies' fashions which accent the legacy of The Hoover Company on the Hoover family homestead. This museum voted a finalist as one of Stark County's best museums!
Tours begin in primitive 1840s building with family history and evolution of cleaning devices with manual sweepers from the late 1800s. Victorian home features Hoover's first 1908 electric suction sweeper advancements each decade through current product line. Vintage ads and Company memorabilia with interactives throughout. War memorabilia is also exhibited. Company awards displayed includes Pro Football Hall of Fame Parade awards from Hoover floats and sponsorship trophies.
2011-12 displays include memorabilia from private collections of Hoover retirees.
Award-winning Herb Gardens add another dimension to the Hoover homestead which is on the National Register of Historic Sites.
Owned and operated by Walsh University, Walsh history is displayed as presented by Museum Studies students.
Open March - November with tours hourly, 1-4 p.m., Weds.-Sat. Admission $5, under 12 FREE Closed Sun-Tues and major holidays.
