"Preserving the Hoover Legacy" -- View Victorian elegance in decor, family furnishings, vintage ladies' fashions which accent the legacy of The Hoover Company on the Hoover family homestead. This wheelchair accessible museum voted a finalist as one of Stark County's best museums!
75th Anniversary in 2015 of arrival of children from England to North Canton to live and keep from dangers of war. Hear this unique story, view scrapbooks that recorded this unique facet of Hoover history. Also video with original footage of the children in 1940.
Tours begin in primitive 1840s building with family history and evolution of cleaning devices with manual sweepers from the late 1800s. Victorian home features Hoover's first 1908 electric suction sweeper advancements each decade through current product line. Vintage ads and Company memorabilia with inter-actives throughout. WWII memorabilia is also exhibited with history of English War Evacuees. Photographs of of Hoover floats from Pro Football Hall of Fame Parade and awards with sponsorship trophies displayed.
Award-winning Herb Gardens add another dimension to the Hoover homestead which is on the National Register of Historic Sites and a Blue Star Museum.
Open March - October with tours hourly, 1-4 p.m., Thurs.-Sat. Admission is FREE - Donations graciously accepted. Closed major holidays. Group tours of 8 or more require advance reservations and available weekday mornings.
Operated by Walsh University, the museum is located on the University's north campus inside Hoover Park.
