Located in the rolling hills of Carroll County, Atwood Lake Resort and Golf Club reopened its doors October 1, 2012 under the management of Radius Hospitality. The resort underwent renovations and offers an open entry area. You will want to experience the atmosphere of “Vistas” full service restaurant and the fabulous food prepared by Chef Matt Smith. “The View” offers a full lounge with various entertainment on the weekends. Both overlook beautiful Atwood Lake. “Atwood Lake Resort is back in a big way”, says Randy Budd Vice President of Radius Hospitality. “It is so satisfying hearing guest rave about the improvements and service levels and seeing the resort busy again.”
Each of the 103 rooms in the hotel is equipped with new bedding and mattresses, a refrigerator and microwave and a 42-inch flat screen television. The vast majority of guestrooms overlook the lake for a breathtaking view. A state of the art fitness room has been installed and an indoor pool and hot tub are open to guests. The Resort offers nine meeting rooms and can hold up to 300 banquet style. “We have over 30 weddings booked already and many organizations are booking their meetings with us” says Deborah Oberlin, Director of Sales at the Resort.
The lighted Par 3, 9-hole golf course has been completely renovated with new lights, tee areas, bunkers, and greens. A new driving range will be open to work out those golf kinks. The chalet’s interior and outdoor patio will be completely redone. The Par 3 golf course, driving range, chalet, outdoor pool, walking and biking trails are all slated to be open in late June. “We are getting bombarded with calls asking us when they can play golf, which is a great because with the improvements, there is no doubt that they will play it again and again and tell their friends” says Scott Yaeger, President of Radius Hospitality. Atwood Lake Resort is a great home base but there are many other area attractions. There are two other golf courses within a short driving distance. Carroll Meadows, an 18 hole, par 71 professionally designed golf course with four sets of tees to accommodate golfers of all skill levels. Watered fairways, tees and large greens abound along with a pro-shop on site and food available. Great Trail Golf Course, located in Minerva, offers 27 holes of some of the most scenic golf in northeast Ohio. Weekday and weekend specials available.
Atwood Lake Resort and Golf Club overlooks scenic Atwood Lake. Atwood Lake is known for its sailing and fishing and has a 25 horsepower limit. The lake has two marinas that offer boat sales and service, public boat launches, boat rentals, bait and licenses and food service. The west end of the lake is home to the Atwood Lake Park where vacationers will find swimming, camping, hiking, cabin rentals and a host of outdoor activities.
Record size "muskies" and a population of channel catfish, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, crappie and bluegill can be found in nearby Leesville Lake The lake has a 10 horsepower limit. The lake has two marinas which offer boat sales and service, boat rentals, docking, bait and licenses, food service and have over 200 campsites in quiet wooded areas with electric hook-ups. Hunting is permitted is designated areas during state seasons.
There are several restaurants located on or near Atwood Lake; The Dock Waterfront Grill, The Lighthouse Bistro, The Gryo Shack, J-Pa's and Dellroy Drive-In, offering a variety of foods and unique dining experiences.
Carroll County is home to three wineries where several varieties of wines are made and sold onsite.
Along with boating, fishing, and swimming, outdoors enthusiasts can enjoy two county parks with hiking trails and the Conotton Creek Trail for biking, unicycling, roller-blading, jogging and walking.
Historical museums and landmarks are scattered throughout Carroll County and numerous local festivals and fairs are held during the summer months.
