COLUMBUS, Ohio (Nov. 2, 2009) – The Ohio Statehouse will celebrate Ohio artisans and authors in November with the Capitol Artists and Authors Fair. Visitors will enjoy a variety of artistic displays, shopping, food and wine sampling and conversation with each artist and author. The event takes place Nov. 20, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the ground floor of the Ohio Statehouse and is free and open to the public.
The Capitol Artists and Authors Fair will include both contemporary crafters and artisans from every corner of Ohio. The atmosphere will allow visitors to talk with the artists about their work, and in some cases, even see them in action.
The Capitol Artists and Authors Fair is a one-stop shopping extravaganza for central Ohio and Ohio Statehouse visitors. From books by Ohio writers to glass, jewelry, pottery and paintings, it’s all together in one location.
Approximately 24 vendors featuring fine arts, handmade crafts, hand decorated items and books, will exhibit their handmade items so visitors can enjoy supporting Ohio artists while acquiring unique gifts for friends and family.
In addition to arts and crafts, the Capitol Artists and Authors Fair will offer samplings of a variety of food and wine from Ohio Proud Food and the Ohio Grape Industry Committee. Ohio Proud food samples will be available all day and the Ohio Grape Industry Committee wine tasting will take place from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. Convenient and affordable parking is available in the Ohio Statehouse Underground Parking Garage. A coupon for a dollar off parking will be available in the Statehouse Museum Shop.
The Statehouse Museum Shop also will be open with a variety of contests, promotions and door prizes throughout the day. The Statehouse Museum Shop is a perfect place to find unique gifts with a political or Ohio theme. In addition, other gift items include holiday and seasonal decorations, decorative home decor, holiday and gourmet foods, clothing, jewelry, toys and more.
