BRECKSVILLE, Ohio (Aug. 14, 2009) – Filmmaker Ken Burns called our National Parks “America's Best Idea,” and to celebrate those words and his upcoming series, The National Parks: America's Best Idea, WVIZ/PBS ideastream®, the National Park Service, and Cuyahoga Valley National Park Association invite you to participate in "A Day in the Park" event on Sunday, Aug. 30 from 10 – 11:30 a.m. The event will take place at Happy Days Lodge, located at 500 W. Streetsboro Road, Peninsula.

Beginning at 10 a.m., amateur and professional photographers, as well as those who just love the outdoors, are invited to hear tips and remarks from local park photographers, and to take photographs and videos of our own Ohio treasure, Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Photographs and video can include all park scenery, recreation, transportation, and wildlife—all aspects of CVNP.

ideastream® staff will be on hand at Happy Days Lodge to receive photographic and video submissions as part of "A Day in the Park." These submissions, along with previously submitted materials, will be later reviewed to determine the best photographs or videos that showcase the park. The winning submissions will be viewed online or featured on WVIZ/PBS. For more information, visit www.wviz.org/park.

ideastream® is a public service, multiple-media organization with a mission to strengthen our communities by providing distinctive, thought-provoking programs and services that enlighten, inspire, educate, and entertain. ideastream® is generously funded by the citizens of Cuyahoga County through Cuyahoga Arts and Culture.

CVNP encompasses 33,000 acres along the Cuyahoga River between Cleveland and Akron. Managed by the National Park Service, CVNP combines cultural, historical, recreational, and natural activities in one setting. For more information about the park, visit www.nps.gov/cuva/ or www.dayinthevalley.com/ or call (216) 524-1497 or (800) 445-9667.
