OHIO STATE PARK RESORTS, (Feb. 11, 2009) – Spring break is coming, and Ohio families will be ready for some fun after months of winter weather.

Ohio State Park Resorts around the state are offering a variety of spring break packages with active, budget-minded families in mind. The resorts are popular spring break locations because they offer a wide range of both indoor and outdoor activities – an important consideration given Ohio's unpredictable weather in the early spring.

"Spring break is family playtime, and our lodges offer a variety of ways for families to play," said Hans Desai, vice president of resorts for Xanterra Parks & Resorts, operator of Ohio State Park Resorts. "While we cannot guarantee sunshine during spring break, we can promise that families can find something fun to do."

All seven Ohio State Park Resorts feature an indoor pool, exercise room and dining room. Most feature old-fashioned arcade-style game rooms, outdoor playgrounds and bonfire rings. Each resort is a little different. Maumee Bay State Park in northwest Ohio, for example, features a Nature Trail, complete with a kid-pleasing bird blind. Hueston Woods State Park features a paintball field. And there is a historic stone house a short hike from Salt Fork State Park Resort.

The resorts are located within an easy drive of major cities. Maumee Bay State Park Resort in northwest Ohio, for example, is a 15-minute drive from Toledo and 45-minute drive from Detroit. Hueston Woods State Park Resort is close to Cincinnati and Dayton. And Salt Fork State Park Resort is within an easy drive of Columbus, Akron, Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

The resorts feature a variety of special deals during spring break. Families with "A" students can also save money by participating in the Stays for A’s program. Guests who show report cards with A’s receive $10 off the published room rate for each A up to five A’s, or $50. One report card per room may be applied for this discount, and families must present the original report card upon check-in.

Examples of spring break packages with starting rates are listed below. Upgrades are available on some packages at an additional cost. The package prices do not include taxes. All seven resorts offer children’s menus. Children under 18 stay free with their parents. Follow the links to the individual resort web sites for complete details on each package. The promotional code listed with each offer below can be used on the applicable web site to make reservations online. Several of the package examples are for weekday package rates.
