DAYTON, Ohio (July 14, 2008) – With gasoline prices now pushing past the $4-per-gallon threshold, greater Dayton residents are increasingly looking for ways to limit spending and get more value for their dollar. With a world-class air show taking place July 19 and 20 at the Dayton International Airport, many residents are again discovering what a wonderful, affordable family entertainment option they have right in their own backyard.

The Vectren Dayton Air Show, presented by Kroger, is now in its 34th year and continues to offer Ohio and Dayton-area aviation fans one of the finest air show experiences in the world. And what’s more, while the cost of gas and seemingly everything else goes through the roof, ticket prices for this year’s air show remain the same as last year.

This year’s featured performer will be the USAF F-22 Raptor in its first-ever Dayton demonstration. The Raptor will be joined by Hall of Fame inductee Sean D. Tucker, the Starfighters Jet Demo Team, the Misty Blues all-woman skydiving team and many more.

Faced with the high cost of gas, a lot of area families are facing the tough decision to forego road-trip vacations and making the decision to stay in Dayton this summer, but that doesn’t mean they must miss out on great family entertainment.

"With family budgets stretched thin due to high fuel costs, more than ever we are seeing a lot of Dayton folks making plans to entertain their family at this year’s Air Show," said Brenda Kerfoot, General Manager of the Vectren Dayton Air Show.

General admission tickets for this year’s show remain at $19 for adults, and $16 for seniors (ages 60 and up) and youth (ages 6-11). Children ages 5 and under can enter free of charge. Fans can also obtain a $3 discount per General Admission ticket by using their Kroger card when purchasing tickets at area Kroger stores. Tickets are also available on the show’s Web site at www.daytonairshow.com, or by calling (800) 585-3737. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the gate during the show.

Kerfoot said that while sales of all ticket packages for this year’s show are strong and ahead of projected sales, the Family Four Pack ticket packages are selling especially well.

"The popularity of the Family Four Pack ticket package increases every year but seems especially attractive to area families this year," she said. "For less than what it would cost to drive back and forth to Columbus or even to take the kids out for dinner and a movie here in town, families can receive a full day of world-class entertainment at the Vectren Dayton Air Show."

The value-priced Family Four Pack includes two adult and two children’s General Admission tickets, vouchers for four hot dogs and four Pepsis, and a souvenir program for a cost of $64.95, which is a 40-percent savings from on-site prices. Sales for the Family Four Pack end at noon on July 17.

In addition to Family Four Pack and General Admission tickets, the popular Pavilion and Blue Sky premium seats are also on sale on the show’s Web site at www.daytonairshow.com. Blue Sky seats for Saturday, July 19 are sold out. There are still also a limited number of Sunday Blue Sky Chalet and Chairman’s Club premium seating packages available.
