COLUMBUS, Ohio (Oct. 30, 2008) - Just in time for Veterans Day, the Ohio Tourism Division has partnered with the Ohio National Guard and Tourism Industry members across the state to provide military families the opportunity to make new memories together at an affordable price during their time on leave. The Division is proud to present to Ohio's veterans and current service members discounted specials on DiscoverOhio.com as a way of thanking them for putting their lives on the line to protect all Americans.

"Since Sept. 11, 2001, more than 20,000 current Ohioans have been deployed to war zones and other parts of the world," said LTC Robert Bramlish, state family program director of the Ohio National Guard Family Readiness Program. "As our men and women deploy, the gift of quality time with their families, whether it be prior to deployment, during a short leave mid tour, or the weeks or months after a deployment, strengthens our troops and builds family resilience," Bramlish said. "Having a weekend getaway or taking a vacation is a great way for Ohio service members to reconnect with their families, and the military specials on DiscoverOhio.com will help them to do just that."

"We can never thank our service men and women enough for putting their lives on the line to keep our freedoms alive and our country safe," said State Tourism Director Amir Eylon. "By partnering with our Industry members from all regions of the state to offer great discounts to Ohio's exciting attractions, we can help show these courageous men and women how much we truly appreciate all they continue to do for us."

DiscoverOhio.com's military discounts offer veteran and current service members an array of opportunities to enjoy an affordable and fun getaway with their loved ones in Ohio. From discounted rates on hotel rooms to specials on admission to some of Ohio's greatest attractions, military men and women have a number of great options to choose from.

For example, with the football season in full swing, the Pro Football Hall of Fame is happy to offer free admission to its museum for veterans and current service members. In addition, a 10 percent discount will be offered in the Hall's museum store, and each guest will receive a commemorative patriotic Hall of Fame pin. Other deals include specials from the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, weekend getaways in Hocking Hills and many other great destinations where Ohio's military members can unite and relax with their families and loved ones.
