A weekend Itinerary for food lovers discovering Columbus. Columbus has lots to offer those looking for culinary activities from food tours to cooking classes, markets and many excellent restaurants, bakeries and artisan food producers.
Saturday:
Spent the morning exploring the North Market and try some ice cream at Jeni's ice creams. During growing season check out the outdoor farmers market. Pop over to Grandview for coffee at Stauf's and a visit to America's oldest peanut butter factory.
Lunch at Thurman's or Schmidt's in German Village both have been featured on Man vs Food. In the afternoon choose between Columbus Food Adventures German Village walking tour or all dessert food tour.
Dinner
Wander in the Short North - especially on the first Saturday of the month which is Gallery Hop. Choose a restaurant for dinner or enjoy a drink. Stop by Brother's Drake Meadery to sample some of their excellent Mead.
Sunday
Spend the morning exploring Franklin Park Conservatory and Franklin Park. Don't miss the community garden. You might even get to see the live fire theater in action. They have an amazing outdoor pizza oven. Stop by the Angry Baker in Olde Towne East for some lunch.

North Market
In operation since 1876, the North Market is Columbus’ only true public market. On Saturday mornings during the growing season (roughly May-November) our outdoor plaza hosts a farmers market with more than 25 local farmers selling produce. On Sundays from May through October more than 25 local artisans peddle their handmade wares.

Columbus Food Adventures offers a variety of exciting and diverse itineraries for our exclusively small group tours (max 14 people), including delectable excursions that focus on the Short North, German Village, Columbus’ standout ethnic eateries, Columbus' most decadent desserts and the city’s famous taco truck scene. New itineraries include a meat lover's tour and a coffee tour.Some tours are conducted via our fully equipped, air-conditioned van, while others are led on foot. German Village Walking and Tasting Tour
German Village is Columbus' most historic and picturesque neighborhood, full of cobblestone streets lined with beautifully restored brick cottages and meticulously maintained gardens. Join us for our walking tour of German Village, where we'll share the sights, flavors, and history of the largest privately restored neighborhood in the country. As the home to some of Columbus' finest dining establishments, Columbus Food Adventures will give you tastes of the best food German Village has to offer. The stops on our German Village food tour include Lindey's (voted best restaurant in Columbus) and G Michael's Bistro with its seasonal low country inspired menu. Katzinger's, a deli that has become a German Village institution, has been featured on the Food Network's show 'The Best Thing I Ever Ate'. Schmidt's, home of the Bahama mama and massive cream puffs, has been featured on Man vs Food. And, of course, no visit to German Village is complete without stopping for a treat at Pistacia Vera. All Dessert Tour
Join us on this van-based tour featuring some of the best desserts in Columbus. This tour will start at the acclaimed Pistacia Vera in German Village, then visit the new Sugardaddy's downtown location to sample some of their sumptuous brownies and blondies.
After a coffee stop at artisan roaster Cafe Brioso we head north to the Pattycake bakery in Clintonville. Of course no dessert tour of Columbus would be complete without Jeni's splendid ice cream, so we will visit their new Clintonville location to try some of their newest seasonal flavors.
Finally, we'll finish our tour with a fabulous dessert cocktail created by mixologist extraordinaire Cris Dehlavi at M Restaurant (there will be a non-alcoholic drink option available for those under 21 or who do not wish to consume alcohol).

Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens
Situated in an urban park two miles east of downtown Columbus, this historic, botanical landmark features biomes representing global climates, bonsai, palm and exotic plant collections and 28 acres of outdoor botanical gardens. A signature collection of Dale Chihuly glass artwork is on view, with an accompanying working glass Hot Shop. Light Raiment II, a light installation by world-renown artist James Turrell, illuminates the John F. Wolfe Palm House every evening at dusk. Seasonal and new art and horticulture-based exhibitions are enhanced with educational programs and family activities.The Garden Cafe serves fresh, made-from-scratch fare and Botanica, the Conservatory's gift shop, features gardening accessories, plants, books, artwork, and more.
