Chihuly Glass Exhibition (Permanent Collection)
Franklin Park Conservatory, 1777 East Broad St., Columbus, OH 43203

The exquisite blown glass sculptures of Dale Chihuly, a world-renowned revolutionary in the Studio Glass Movement, are at the Franklin Park Conservatory. The Conservatory is the only public botanical garden in the world to own a signature collection of Chihuly’s artwork.

The Orchid Forest

Discover the beauty and mystique of the elusive orchid in one of the Conservatory’s most elaborate floral exhibitions. In this enchanting display, visitors will find hundreds of exotic orchids growing on trees in the Tropical Rainforest. With more than 25,000 species, the orchid is the largest and most diverse of the flowering plant families.

Cleveland Home & Garden Show (February 3-11, 2007)
International Exposition Center, 6200 Riverside Rd., Cleveland, OH 44135

The 64th edition of this show features a dual theme celebrating the color green with a “Green Products Pavilion” that supports the green building movement and the emerald green landscapes of Ireland. The show includes more than 150,000 square feet of gorgeous gardens, three full-size model homes completely decorated and landscaped, and more than 100 arts and crafts displays. Visitors can tour a two-story, modern day Irish Castle and wander through 20 acres of gardens.

Central Ohio Home & Garden Show (February 24 – March 4, 2007)

Cleveland Botanical Garden Orchid Mania (February 24 – March 25, 2007)
For the past two years, Cleveland Botanical Garden's Orchid Mania show has been an appealing respite from the grey of late winter. This year, the orchid show offers all of the beauty, color, fragrance and magic visitors have come to expect. In addition, visitors will delight in the enchanting butterflies of The Eleanor Armstrong Smith Glasshouse. Blossoms & Butterflies will also probe the fascinating relationships between orchids and butterflies, and will show the ways both serve as inspiration in the worlds of art and design.

Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden Zoo Blooms (Held annually each spring)

With 55,000 tulips and more than 1 million daffodils, Zoo Blooms is the must-see event for garden and animal enthusiasts alike. The Living Garden is a unique entertainment experience in which nature comes to life with an extraordinary combination of movement, music and live interaction. Cincinnati Flower Show (April 21 – 29, 2007)
Coney Island, 6201 Kellogg Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45228

The nation's largest open-air horticultural exhibition, the Cincinnati Flower Show is the only show in North America endorsed by the Royal Horticultural Society. Staged in historic Ault Park, the flower show features spectacular landscaped gardens, window box and container garden exhibits, and dramatic professional and amateur floral arrangements. The show takes place under 100,000 square feet of pristine white tents and offers a dynamic lecture series, an Ask the Experts forum and traditional English afternoon teas. Garden products from around the world are featured in the marketplace.

Gahanna Herb Festival (Held annually each May)

Celebrate spring at this premier event featuring crafts, herbs, tours and demonstrations. Step back in time and visit an historic working log house and Victorian Inn, while learning about the many culinary and medicinal uses for herbs throughout the years.

Lakeside Daisy Open House (May 12, 2007)
Located on the east side of Alexander Pike, ½ mile south of State Route 163, Marblehead, OH

The Lakeside Daisy (Hymenoxys herbacea) is the rarest of more than 200 plants currently listed as endangered in Ohio, and is a federally threatened plant species. The Lakeside Daisy Preserve on the Marblehead Peninsula opens to the general public for just one day each year. Naturalists will be on hand to guide tours and answer questions. The preserve was established to protect the only U.S. population of the Lakeside Daisy, which grows in only two other sites worldwide. Both other sites are in Canada.

International Butterfly Show at Krohn Conservatory (May 12 – June 24, 2007)

The International Butterfly Show features more than 10,000 butterflies from all corners of the world. This year’s theme is Out of Africa. Visitors can see butterflies up close and personal as they flutter freely within the conservatory.

Cleveland Botanical Garden Flower Show (May 24 – 28, 2007)

This biennial show is the largest outdoor flower show in the United States. Held in Cleveland’s University Circle, the show features 10 acres of lush gardens, lectures, demonstrations and a flower arranging competition. The 2007 theme is Rhythm and Hues Celebrates a Timeless Combination: The Happy Marriage of the Garden and the Musical Arts .

Columbus Rose Festival (June 9 & 10, 2007)

The Columbus Rose Festival celebrates beauty, nature and the environment with a rose show, educational exhibits and workshops on plant care and floral design. The host site, the Park of Roses, contains 11,000 rose bushes, along with specialized herb, perennial and daffodil gardens. This urban oasis was recently featured as one of USA Today’s Top Ten Places to Ponder the Rose.

Crosby Festival of the Arts (June 23-24, 2007)

Each year during the last weekend in June, the Toledo Botanical Garden hosts the Crosby Festival of the Arts – the oldest outdoor juried art festival in Ohio. The Botanical Garden provides a lush living color gallery for the fine art and professional artists who convene upon its grounds. Each year, a jury carefully selects approximately 225 artists from more than 800 applications. Artists and buyers alike appreciate the high quality of the exhibitions.

German Village Haus und Garten Tour (June 24, 2007)
588 South Third St., Columbus, OH 43215

Visitors are cordially invited for this daylong celebration of innovative design and award-winning restorations. Guests meander through 12 homes and gardens at their own pace, while stopping to enjoy gardening demonstrations, unique shopping opportunities and a wide array of dining available throughout the neighborhood. German Village consists of 233 acres of living history, in which old meets new in a revitalized community. More than 1,600 buildings have been renewed since 1960. The village is one of the premier historic restorations in the world, and is the largest privately funded historic district on the National Register of Historic Places.

Vintage Ohio Wine Festival (August 4 – 5, 2007)
Lake Metroparks Farmpark, 8800 Chardon Rd., Kirtland, OH 44094

Vintage Ohio is held annually during the first full weekend in August at Lake Farmpark, an outdoor living science museum, just 25 miles east of Cleveland. Vintage Ohio presents three stages of live music, a spectacular Friday night fireworks display, a juried fine arts and crafts show, a designer lifestyles showcase, cooking demonstrations, a wine store, wine sampling from some of Ohio’s more than 90 wineries, and several of the state’s finest restaurants and caterers.

Tipp City Mum Festival
(Held annually in September)
Downtown and Community Park, Tipp City, OH 45371

At one time, Tipp City was known for growing a large variety of mums. Today, the Tipp City Mum Festival celebrates this heritage. A parade strolls down historic Main Street and directly into the City Park, where arts, crafts, games and entertainment abound. A full day can be enjoyed among this welcoming festival and its people.

Fall Harvest Festival at Lake Farmpark
(Held annually in September)

Take a wagon ride to Festival Field, where you can taste fresh harvest soup, sample a variety of apples, watch apple butter being made, or help press some apple cider. Venture on to the Plant Science Center and learn about honey harvesting, try some fresh-picked veggies, enjoy browsing through the crafts or see the parade of antique tractors that helped revolutionize farming.

Mum Festival (September 29 – 30, 2007)
Lake Anna, Barberton, OH

The Mum Festival sprang from a local business, Yoder Brothers Greenhouses, which began as a partnership of two hardworking Mennonite brothers, Menno and Ira Yoder. Today, more than 75 years since its founding, G. Ramsey Yoder, (Menno’s grandson), heads Yoder Brothers, Inc. – a company of 1,600 employees. While the growing operations have moved south, the headquarters remain in Barberton and the company has grown to be a world leader in flower research and breeding as well as the third largest producer of mums in the world! Each year, more than 1 million mums are planted around Lake Anna for the Mum Festival weekend. Each guest will receive a potted mum. Dates may vary based on
weather conditions.

Cincinnati Flower and Farm Fest (Held annually in September and October)

This wonderful event is fun for the entire family and is held annually during the first two weekends in October. Children are invited to dress in their most imaginative Halloween costumes and venture down the Trick or Treat Trail to receive treats from local sponsors each day. Adults enjoy flower and vegetable markets, inspirational fiber art, decorative pottery, bountiful exhibits and live music.

Olde Thyme Herb Fair (October 13 – 14, 2007)
2345 State Route 247, Manchester, OH 45144

Picture rows of white tents set amidst outdoor gardens; the scent of herbs and everlastings in the air. This festive event features live music, storytelling, herbal cooking classes, more than 175 artisans, basket making, wood carving and tons of plant material for sale. The Herb Fair occurs annually during the second weekend in October.
