Discover Ohio in Bloom
Arts & culture connoisseurs will appreciate an exquisite English Garden
designed by Ellen Biddle Shipman at Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens; and the Topiary
Garden, a more than life-size topiary re-creation of the Seurat painting, “A
Sunday on the Island of La Grande Jatte”
For naturalists, Ohio is the only place in the country to see endangered
Lakeside Daisies. Oak Openings is on the Nature Conservancy’s list of “200
Last Great Places on Earth” with its inland sand dune habitat, and
the Cuyahoga Valley National Park holds hundreds of plant species, waterfalls
and trails.
History & heritage buffs can immerse themselves in another time at Adena,
the Benjamin Latrobe designed home of Ohio ’s sixth governor, who originally
planted the gardens here with seeds from Thomas Jefferson. The 1817 Village
of Zoar includes outdoor gardens, a Garden House and a Greenhouse.
Family fun can be found around every corner. The Hershey Children’s
Garden is located at the Cleveland Botanical Garden , and Lake Farmpark shows
children of all ages how plants grow with hands-on learning opportunities.
