WAR OF 1812 BICENTENNIAL
Ohio was a key battleground during the War of 1812, fought between the United States, Great Britain and Canada from 1812 until 1815. This war affected Ohio’s geographical boundaries and forever changed its culture. Several major battles took place in Ohio that have been commemorated throughout the years with monuments and attractions, such as Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial at Put-In-Bay that features the 352-foot-tall monument and a visitor’s center honoring those who fought in the Battle of Lake Erie, and Ft. Meigs Museum located at the site of two War of 1812 battles.
