Red Maple Inn

Rolling farms as far as the eye can see...the brisk clip-clop of Amish buggies...warm maple syrup on a fresh morning...the soothing comforts of a stay at the Red Maple Inn in Burton. Curl up in front of the fireplace in the library. Stroll through neighboring Century Village, a restored village showing life in the area during the 1800s.

Nestled in the woods of Geauga County, the Red Maple Inn has 17 spacious rooms and one suite, each decorated with solid wood furniture finely crafted by local Amish trades people. All rooms feature King- or Queen-size beds. The Red Maple Inn has just received it's eighth AAA four-diamond award.  The Inn is the largest four-diamond Inn in north-east Ohio.

  • Grand River Valley Wine Weekend
    by Discover Ohio

Ohio is home to more than 100 wineries, with many new options opening every year. The Grand River Valley, in the state's northeast corner, is an ideal spot for a wine getaway, because you can find more than 20 wineries within 10 miles of terrain.

The Grand River Valley is a unique microclimate, that protects grapes well into the autumn, allowing longer season vinifera grapes to take hold here. The region's specialties include Riesling, chardonnay and the sweet treat of Vidal Blanc ice wines.

Start your wine weekend at Laleure Vineyards in Parkman. This place is a bit away from the concentration of wineries farther north, but it's well worth the trip for its delicious wines and the atmosphere of its converted-dairy-barn tasting room.

Debonne Vineyards in Madison is another great stop. With entertainment almost every weekend, this is the perfect spot for a clear evening under the stars with a glass of Cab Franc.

Just a bit down the road, Ferrante Winery presents the outstanding Golden Bunches Riesling and a delicious Italian-inspired menu perfect for lunch or dinner.

The hardest choice is deciding where to spend the night. The Red Maple Inn in Burton feels like a cozy New England retreat. The Lodge at Geneva State Park offers stunning views of Lake Erie, and the Polly Harper Inn is nestled among the vineyards.

The best winery nightlife is to be found at Grand River Cellars in Madison - whether its dueling pianos or a theatrical performance.
